April 27, 2011- The management and staff of the Chesapeake Beach Resort are sad to learn today that a good friend of the resort, Jim Mad Dog Mandich who had been bravely battling cancer has passed away. We were all sad to learn of Jim's passing and have his wife Bonnie and their children in our thoughts and prayers. Jim was a football legend, a member of the 1972 Miami Dolphins who had a perfect season ending with a Super Bowl victory. Jim and the Dolphins again won the Super Bowl in 1973. He was also the voice of Dolphins radio broadcasting his show and following the games on 560WQAM, we'll all miss hearing Jim announce Awwwwright Miami! when his team scored. Earlier in life Jim was also a key member of the University of Michigan's football program where he helped beat Woody Hayes and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Most of all we will remember Jim as a great business partner, and a valued friend. There will always be a place in our hearts for the Mad Dog, Jim Mandich.

Sept 2, 2009 – Due to the success of the Islamorada Sword Fish Tournament, they are making the Chesapeake Beach Resort the home of the 2010 Islamorada Swordfish Tournament.

June 2009 – The Chesapeake Beach Resort will host the Islamorada Sword Fish Tournament on Aug 28, 29, & 30, 2009. The participating boats will cast off from our marina in the evening, fish during the night, and return after midnight. Awards banquet will be next door at Braza Lena Restaurant and Captains' Party will be on the sandy shores of the Chesapeake Beach Resort.

February 2009- The Chesapeake Beach Resort is proud to announce that our employee, Donna Snook, has been awarded the Employee of the Year Award for 2008 by the Lodging Association of the Florida Keys and Key West. Congratulations, Donna! And thank you for 12 years of dedication and sevice!

November 1, 2008 – The Islamorada Chamber of Commerce selected the Chesapeake Beach Resort at the host of it 2008 Christmas Event on December 16^th 2008. All members of the Chamber are invited to attend this celebration and enjoy a night of friendship and community support.

October 13, 2008 Washington D.C. press release – Chesapeake Beach Resort has been selected for the 2008, Best of Islamorada Award in the Resorts category by the U.S. Local Business Association (USLBA). The Best of Local Business Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USLBA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.
